Esther E. Rapp, age 93, of Beaver, Ohio, died Wednesday August 6, 2014 at the Four Winds Community in Jackson, Ohio. She was born January 29, 1921 in Sedelia, Ohio, a daughter of the late Robert and Emza Tatman Pierce.
Mrs. Rapp was united in marriage October 3, 1938 to her husband, Mendel Arthur Rapp, who preceded her in death August 19, 2003.
Surviving are two daughters, Virginia Ann (Donald) Harness of Westerville, Ohio and Alta Faye (Ronnie) Mercer of Jackson, Ohio, one son, Ronnie Eugene (Kathy) Rapp of Beaver, Ohio, seven grandchildren, Shelley (Rob) Ebright, Cindy (Bob) Booth, Carl Mercer, Kevin (Carol) Mercer, Patsy (Ron) Russell, Rhonda (Kevin) McCown and Jennifer (Gary) Morris-Blackburn, twenty four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Freda Spurgeon and Ollie Huff, both of Washington C.H., Ohio.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Burris and Pearl Bennett and two brothers, Roy Love and Ross Pierce.
Moving to Beaver right after she was married, Mrs. Rapp was a member of the Beaver Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school, was co-owner of the Rapp’s Repair Shop in Beaver, served and retired as the Clerk for the Village of Beaver, Beaver Water Board, and Beaver Union Cemetery, was a member of the Beaver EMS, participating in 989 squad runs, was a member of the Beaver PTA for 32 years, and was twice honored as the Beaver Village Citizen of the Year.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday August 11, 2014 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio with Rev. Ronald Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaver Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday August 10, 2014 at the funeral home.
