Fern Evans, age 82, of Jackson, Ohio went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at her residence. She was born April 25, 1932 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Henry and Ethyl (Crabtree) McClurg.
Fern worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Jackson Christian Church as a secretary, and as assistant director at RSVP. She served the Lord for over forty years at Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church as a Sunday school teacher, junior church leader, choir member, soloist, and Director of Wesleyan Missions.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jack Evans of Jackson, Ohio; son, Joe (Pat) Evans of Jackson, Ohio, daughter, Pam (Paul) Ondera of Galena, Ohio , and Donna (John) Lewis of Jackson, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew (Amanda) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Joel (BeeJay) Ondera of Encinitas, California, Julie (Gene) Folden of Jackson, Ohio, Andrea Ondera of Nashville, Tennessee, and Chris Ondera of Hermitage, Tennessee; 8 great- grandchildren; siblings, Lester McClurg and Hank McClurg both of Jackson, Ohio and Mary (Gary) Seidel of Greenwich, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Imogene Crabtree of Jackson, Ohio and Roberta (Kenny)Arbaugh of Groveport, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Gary (Barb)Evans of Jackson, Ohio and Leland Evans of Oak Hill, Ohio as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents is her sister, Ruth Jarrett; and a brother, Junior McClurg.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with Pastor Rick Christman officiating. Burial will follow at Horeb Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, June 19, from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
