Eloise (Richards) Jones, age 94, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014. She was born May 15, 1920 to the late Virgil and Katie Richards of Thurman, Ohio. Eloise married Freeman Jones on June 18, 1942. They were happily married for 63 years before Freeman’s passing on October 11, 2004.
Eloise graduated from Bloomfield High School and then went on to graduate from Cosmetology school in Columbus, Ohio. She was one of the attendants of the first Jackson County Apple Festival. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Church of Jackson and the Eastern Star. She loved the outdoors, especially vegetable gardening and her flowers. Her greatest joy in life though, was her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Debby Jindra of Jackson, Ohio; brother, Dale (Louise) Richards of Thurman, Ohio; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband was her son, Mark Jones of Portsmouth, Ohio; brothers, John Richards and his wife Joan, Elson Richards and his wife Irene, and Elmer Richards and his wife Lulo all of Thurman, Ohio; her sisters, Clara Jones and her husband, Gomer of Athens, Ohio and Alma Richards and her husband Chester of Thurman, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Helen Jones Anderson of Jackson, Ohio.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio with Pastor Randy Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Vega Cemetery.
