Dixie Ray (McKenzie) Christman, of Jackson, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at her home. Dixie was born in Frankfort, Kentucky on January 24, 1931 to the late German C. and Sallie Jane (Stafford) McKenzie. Dixie moved to Jackson, Ohio with her family when she was four years old. There she met her husband of 64 years, Waldo Christman and they began their family.
Dixie is survived by two daughters, Mary (Mark) Riegel and Stella (Glenn) Greer; daughter-in-law, Kim Waugh Christman; our brother, Ivan Marquis; grandchildren, Tyson Riegel, Tara Riegel, Allen Greer, Sallie (Greer) and Dustin Sexton and Tausha Christman; great-grandchildren, Jason Daniel Sexton, Shane Allen and Tayla Rae Folden; brothers, Ben (Vivian) McKenzie, George (Faye) McKenzie, and Dave (Sue) McKenzie; and a sister-in-law, Sue McKenzie all of whom are from Jackson, Ohio. She had many loving nieces and nephews and she was known as “Grandma Dixie” to many 4-H kids. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed by everyone.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband are her son, Lawrence Christman; her granddaughter, Tacey Rae Christman; a brother, Clyde McKenzie; a sister, Leuralee Downey; and a brother-in-law, Daniel Downey.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Bethel Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillumfuneralhomes.com
