Robert L. Adkins Sr. age 76, of Oak Hill, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014. He was a retired maintenance worker and mighty worker for the Lord. He was a member of Trippieville Baptist Church, Kokeen Church and was past master and a member of the Portland Masonic Lodge. He was born October 29, 1937 to the late Clarence and Gertrude (Crabtree) Adkins.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Deanna R (Hartwig) Adkins; sons, Robert L. Adkins Jr., of Jackson, Douglas Adkins, of Portsmouth, Terry L. Saylor, of Virginia; sisters, Ruby Yates, of Jackson, Wilma (Paul) Dillion, of Columbus, Juanita (Henry) Smith and Connie Carney, all of Jackson; brothers, Ted Adkins, of Whittmore Lake, MI, Paul Adkins, and Gary Adkins, both of Oak Hill. Also surviving are grandchildren, Douglas Adkins Jr., Christopher Adkins, Nathan Adkins, Hannah Adkins, Antora Mondol, Janici Mondol; daughters-in-law, Christy (Lemaster) Adkins, and Dian (Lewis) Adkins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by granddaughter, Amanda M. Adkins; sisters, Vicky Adkins, and Virginia Trapp; brothers, Clarence Adkins Jr., and Carl Adkins.
A Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 28, at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill with Sammy Hale and Mark Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday March 27, from 4 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.
