Edward A. Dye, age 86, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born February 14, 1927 in Wellston, Ohio to the late Henry A. Dye and Effie Oiler Dye.
Edward was a 1945 graduate of Wellston High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy, where he was a Fireman First Class serving during WW II. Following over 50 years of employment, he retired from Buckeye Automatic in McArthur where he was the head foreman and supervisor.
Edward is survived by his wife of 69 years, Olive Cooper Dye; children, Angela Dye of Wellston, Stephen Dye of Wellston and Keith Dye (Lee Anne) of Lancaster; seven grandchildren, Glenn Dye, James Dye, Stephanie Staten, Amanda Dye, Edward Dye, Lauren Dye and Olivia Dye, as well as nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Edward Phillip “Butch” Dye, who was killed while serving his country in Vietnam; and several brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Kelly officiating and military honors by the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.
At Edward’s request, cremation will follow the services and burial will be at the convenience of the family in Ridgewood Cemetery.
