Hazel Scarberry, 80, of McArthur, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Holzer Medical Center-Gallipolis.
She was born in Hueysville, Kentucky on March 27, 1933, daughter of the late Bee Gearheart and Manda Ratliff Gearheart. She was a homemaker and found much enjoyment in canning, embroidery, and feeding birds.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Scarberry, in 1993; five brothers, James, Clinton, Earl, Kenneth, and Emmitt Gearheart; two sisters, Tennie Crisp and Bertha Shipman; a grandson, Afton Scarberry; and a great-grandson, Evan Starkey.
Surviving are five sons: Jerry (Cindy) Scarberry, Steven (Jacqueline) Scarberry, Dennis (Cris) Scarberry, Andrew Scarberry, and Russell (Anna) Scarberry, all of McArthur; two daughters, Sharon (Gary) Chesser and Brenda (James) Bowden, both of McArthur; two brothers, Clyde and Roger Gearheart; three sisters, Polly Taylor, Flossie Hughes, and Linda Gearheart; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for family and friends will be at a later date at the Elk Cemetery in McArthur with Jason R. Winters officiating. Arrangements are by the Jenkins Funeral Chapel of Wellston.
