Chelsea Juanita (Downey) Mullins, age 79, joined her husband, William Truman Mullins in heaven on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013. She was born Sept. 13, 1934 to the late Albert and Ethel (Harrison) Downey.
Chelsea was a member of the Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church. She retired from the Jackson City Schools as a cook. She was known as “the Cookie Lady” by residents of Four Winds Nursing Facility for the many years that she and her good friend Doris Rapp made weekly visits providing cookies and candy to the residence and staff.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband and her parents was one brother, Harold Ray Downey.
Chelsea is survived by five children, Clara (Bill) Ridgeway, Debbie (Ron) Kanouse, Billie Halterman, Ronnie (Trena) Mullins, and Donnie Mullins; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-granchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty (Larry) Merrick and Brenda Coffey; one brother, Russ (Ramona) Downey; sister-in-law, Carol Downey; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Friends may call on Monday, Nov. 11 from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Reese officiating.
