Rosslee Smith

Rosslee Smith passed quietly Oct. 19, 2013 at Jenkins Nursing Home in Wellston, Ohio at the age of 80. Her husband, Harold Smith, preceded her death in addition to her parents, Roscoe C. and Lillian G. Harper and one brother, Daniel “Gene” Lewis.

She is survived by her three children, Jackie Shaw and husband Randy of Wellston, Ohio, Jeanne Leach and husband Dale of Dover, Ohio, and Glen Mayhew of Whitehouse, Ohio. Rosslee leaves three grandsons, Brian (Jodie) Shaw of New Albany, Ohio, Bruce (Melissa) and Mark (Abby) Leach of New Philadelphia, Ohio. Rosslee leaves four granddaughters: Mandy (Shawn) Montgomery of Wellston, Ohio, Carrie Leach of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Sara and Beth Mayhew of Whitehouse, Ohio. Rosslee leaves five great-grandchildren: Jaxon and Avery Montgomery of Wellston, Ohio, Maddie Shaw of New Albany, Ohio, and Amy and Lillian Leach of New Philadelphia, Ohio. Also surviving are her four step children, Don Harold Smith of Broad View Heights, Ohio, Bruce (Kathy) Smith of Snellville, GA, Susan (Larry) McDaniels of Encinitas, CA and Angie (David) Butcher of Wellston, Ohio. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, husband, and brother, Rosslee is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Deanna Smith and sister-in-law, Rita Lewis.

After graduating from Wellston High School and Manpower Training, her work experience included a position as Assistant Deputy Auditor for the City of Wellston. She also served many years as a part of the music ministry at Trinity United Methodist Church in Wellston. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Coalton.

Arrangements are under the direction of McWilliams Funeral Home at 125 East 1st Avenue, Wellston, Ohio 45692. Friends and family may call on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. with the funeral on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Ridgewood Cemetery with Pastor Andy Rawlins officiating.
