Jerry A. Bryan, age 80, of West Chester, Ohio and a former resident of Wellston, Ohio, died October 19, 2013 at Hospice of Cincinnati. He was born June 21, 1933 and was the only son of the late Richard L. Bryan and Madge Maloy Bryan. He was a graduate of Wellston High School, Class of 1952.
After graduation he went on to serve four years with the U.S. Air Force. After his discharge he accepted a job with Buick Motors Division, General Motors Corporation and was located in Cincinnati, Ohio. He remained with General Motors until 1967 at which time he left to form his own company working with car dealers in four states, processing their factory warranty claims. In 1970 he also started in Cincinnati one of the first “Quick Print” shops which he kept for three years, he then sold both the Warranty Claims Company and the Printing Company. He took a brief retirement only to open four more printing locations. He sold the last shop in 1997 and retired.
He was very active in his community serving as President of the Chamber of commerce for two terms, 1991-1992 and was honored to have an annual award named after him. He also was given a Life Time Membership in the chamber. He was a member of Crestview Presbyterian Church and was a past Elder, he was also a member of Mason Lodge #678 F&AM.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen Potts Bryan; one son, Layne Bryan of Maineville, Ohio and one daughter, Kimber (Jim) Bathie; two grandchildren, Brittany Bathie and Jarren Bathie, all of Birmingham, Alabama.
Visitation will be held at the Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati-Columbus Rd. (Rt. 42), West Chester, Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m., followed by funeral service. Burial will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston, Ohio. Memorials may be directed to: The Wellness Community, Prostate Cancer Group, 4918 Cooper Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45242.
