Thomas A. “Tom” Carlisle

Thomas A. “Tom” Carlisle, age 74, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Adena Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Jackson, Ohio on April 16, 1939 to the late Thomas L. and Catherine (Ramsey) Carlisle. Tom was a graduate of Jackson High School with the Class of 1957. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson and served his community and its residents well through numerous venues to include a 37-year career with the U.S. Postal Service, a 19-year tenure as a Lick Township Trustee, 17 years of service as a Victory Grange member, and long-time attendee at the Christ United Methodist Church. Tom was a dedicated and loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; two daughters, Jan Carlisle of Huntington, West Virginia; Beth (Kevin) Curtis of Locust, North Carolina; son, Eric (Priscilla) Carlisle of Clarksville, Ohio; sisters, Joan Greathouse and Jill Hale; brother, Gwyn (Gloria) Carlisle, all of Jackson; two grandsons, Chris Curtis and Derick Carlisle; as well as two granddaughters, Emily and Natalie Miller.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jackson Food Pantry, 276 E. Main St., Jackson, Ohio 45640, or a charity of personal choice in Tom’s honor.

Private services were held at the request of family. Interment was at Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson.
