Oscar Harley Swaney, Jr., age 67, originally from Jackson, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born September 11, 1945 to the late Oscar Harley Swaney, Sr. and Blumey (Collinsworth) Swaney. He was an Army veteran and was stationed in Germany. He was a loved husband, father and brother. He enjoyed camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle and he especially loved his dog, Katie.
He is survived by his wife, Connie (Vaughn) Branham-Swaney; children, Marsha Tolliver of Jackson, Darren Swaney, Sharon (Frank) Dazey; 9 step-children; 4 grandchildren; 25 step-grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Fred Swaney, David Cruse; sisters, Elsie Rouse and Patty Wolford.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Harley Duane Swaney; brothers, Earl Swaney, Jack Cruse, Bob Cruse, Don Cruse, Percy Keezee and Harold “Gabe” Keezee; sisters, Alfreda (Keezee) Morris, Betty Jo Cruse and Merle Mae Swaney.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev. Kenny Potter officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery with a military graveside service provided by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45 of Jackson. Friends may call from 4-8 on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the funeral home.
