Edith L. Bishop, age 89, of Wellston, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was born February 12, 1924 in Vinton County to the late Harlon and Mertie Eberts Whetstone. Edith was a former employee of the Hercules Trouser Company and was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Wellston for over 60 years.
She is survived by her children, Anita Holtz of Flat Rock, Michigan, Naomi McCarter of Wellston and John Bishop, Jr. of Wellston; grandchildren, Kevin, Mandi, Heather, Kristen, Alex, Josh and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Blake, Sean, Tyler and Josh, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Betty Jarvis, Alene Gould and Rita Bishop, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Bishop, Sr. in 1989; brother, Kenny Whetstone and her sister, Lucille Bishop.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery.
