Martha S. Hulbert, age 91, of Wellston, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013, at the Edgewood Manor in Wellston. She was born November 14, 1921 in Wellston, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arthur Guy Stevenson and Viola Barrett Stevenson.
Martha was a 1939 graduate of Wellston High School and a graduate of the Ohio University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught at Hope Haven School for six years and then taught in the Vinton County Local Schools for over 20 years. Martha always worked with the special needs children. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wellston, the Vinton County Retired Teachers Association and the Wellston Chase Chapter Order of Eastern Star.
Martha is survived by five children, Ann (Pat) Meyers of Biltmore, N.C., Perry “Chuck” (Peggy) Hulbert of Richmond, Va., Amy (John) Walker of Wellston, Mike (Sandy) Hulbert of Marysville and Missy (Steve) Malone of Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Charlie (Kara) Meyers, Chris (Annie) Meyers, Dustin (Brooke) Hicks, Kendra (Charles) Ammons, Holly Helmic, Mandi (Rhawn) Jackson, Felicia (Jon) Davis and Chuck (Whitney) Malone, as well as six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry “Pat” Hulbert; grandson, Seth Hulbert and her brother, Arthur “Popeye” Stevenson.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Feb. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m., at the McWilliams Funeral Home with John Pelletier, CLP officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
