Mary Elizabeth (Saxton) Hall, age 90, of Thurman, Ohio passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at Holzer Senior Care in Gallipolis. She was born July 21, 1922 in West Virginia to the late Wilbert and Hattie (Dowell) Saxton. Mary found happiness being a cook for many years at Centerville Elementary School where she retired. She was also clerk of the village for many years, which she took much pride in her work. She enjoyed cooking and canning at home. She was a member of the Thurman United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Lisa (Shane) Wells, of Charlottesville, Virginia, Gene Allen (Stacy) Hall, of Oak Hill; sisters, Faye Folden, of Orlando Florida, Anna Mae Perroud, of Bidell; daughter-in-law Judy Hall; great grandchildren, Rian Elisabeth Wells, Luke Andrew Wells, Nathan Allen Hall, and Nicholas Lee Hall.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Woodrow Hall; son, Gene E. Hall; and sisters, Margaret Folden and Ruth Forest.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at the Lewis- Gillum Funeral Home with Pastor John Rozewicz officiating. Burial will follow in New Zion Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, from 12 p.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Thurman Methodist Church, P.O. Box 2000 Thurman, Ohio 45685.
