As summer turns to fall and fall to winter so, too, our lives change season.
Mary C. Ragland, age 86, changed gently from earthly life to heavenly life on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Heartland of Jackson. She was born Feb. 8, 1926.
Mary, mother, grandmother, aunt, leaves to mourn a large close-knit family bound by Christian values: seven daughters, Sarah Haynes, Linda Ray, Mabel Tanner, Bunny (Charles) Tanner, Jerri (Garret) Trent, Sharon Ragland and Sophia Ragland-Brown; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
As a humble servant to the Lord, Mary committed her life to Christ at an early age at the old Bethel Carr Baptist Church and was the oldest charter member of United Community Baptist Church. She held various offices at the church and had the title of Clerk Emeritus. Mary was active in the Providence Association and recently received the Trail Blazer award.
The evening shadow is ours, Mary is now a shining star.
Funeral services will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home Thursday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Melvin O. Freeman officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will follow in the Ragland Cemetery.
