Edward “Ed” Spriggs, 68, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Whetstone Care Center. He was born December 29, 1943 in Jackson, son of the late Doug Spriggs and Ruth Harless Brown. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Doris; brothers, Donnie and Alan.
He was a Jackson High School Ironman, 3 time All American, and Mr. Who’s Who in Basketball. Ed was also a member of Maize Rd. Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Carol Spriggs; sons, Eddie Spriggs, Frank Sgandurra, and Michael Sgandurra; daughter, Toni (David) Tyndall; sister, Carol (Paul) Coyan; grandchildren, Corey, Michael, and Alyssa Sgandurra, Harper, Ethan, and Anthony Tyndall; sisters-in-law, Joyce and Emily Spriggs; special nieces and nephews, Liz, John, and Austin Frisbee, and Debbie and Jerry Hackett; special friends, Rhonda (Roy) Charles, Jaimie (Todd) Whitney, and other extended host of family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home, 135 Broadway Jackson, OH. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus.
