Inez May Miller, age 88, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Monday, November 26, 2012, at St. Ann’s Hospital, Westerville, Ohio. She was born in Jackson, Ohio, on May 2, 1924. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edgar and Fannie (Merker) Jenkins; her husband, Shade W. Miller; an infant son, Shade W. Miller Jr.; two brothers, Edgar and Kenneth Jenkins; and dear friends, Kenny and Imogene Swann.
She is survived by two sons, Dan (Rachel) Miller and Mark Miller; one daughter, Susan (John) Rogers; sister-in-law, Janet Jenkins; one granddaughter, Kelly Marie Rogers; five great-grandchildren: Rueben, Coltin, Cora, Ethan, and Nevaeh Hightower; nieces and nephews: Kristina Dempsey, Becky (Dwayne) Trego, Dr. Kevin Jenkins of Nashville, Tennessee, and Betty (Henry) Long of Middleburg, Virginia; special friend, Helen Brohardt; and three special pet companions, Josh, Molly, and Chrissy.
Inez was a member of the Jackson Women’s League; a former member of the Jackson BPW; a member of the Jackson Presbyterian Church and enjoyed singing in the choir; a volunteer of RSVP of Ohio Valley where she enjoyed being a Grandpal and volunteering for Southern Hills Arts Council; received the Presidential Lifetime Service Award from George Bush for civic and volunteer work; was a former attendant on the Jackson Apple Festival Court and a former member of the Harmonettes; former member and past President of both the Jackson Literary Club and the Jackson Fine Arts Club; and two-time President of the Jackson Women’s League.
Funeral service will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home Saturday, December 1, at 1 p.m., with Rev. David Downton and Rev. Jack Hughes officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, November 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, December 1, two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery.
