Michael C. Johnston, 63, of Beavercreek, passed into the arms of Christ on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Hospice of Dayton after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Johnston was born in Meriden, Connecticut to the late Willis and Lillian Johnston, and was preceded in death by his brother Norton.
Survivors include his loving wife Barbara of Beavercreek; children: Kevin (Evelyn) of Dayton, Michael (Andrea) of Delaware, Ohio, and Christine (William) Hefner of Wellston, Ohio; grandchildren: Lynn, Nathan, Carmen, Caroline, and Brendan; brother Timothy (Marilyn) of Southington, Connecticut; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
He was an honorably discharged U.S. Marine combat veteran of the Viet Nam Tet Offensive, and subsequently completed a 36-year civil service career in aircraft maintenance, technical data, and advanced aerial combat systems.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m. at Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home, 135 Broadway Street, Jackson, Ohio, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Jerry Lung, followed by burial with military honors at Fairmount Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton or charity of choice.
