Sharon Kay Crabtree, 77, of Oak Hill, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, on June 6th, 2022. She was born on November 11th, 1945, in Oak Hill, OH, to the late Merrill and Juanita (Posie) Bates.
Sharon married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Crabtree, Sr., on November 19th, 1966. Doug and Sharon were blessed to spend 54 years as husband and wife before his passing in September of 2020.
Sharon is survived by her two sons: Douglas Michael Crabtree, Jr. (Cindy Mullinix) of Springfield, OH and Kevin (Whitney) Crabtree of Oak Hill, OH; three loving granddaughters: Katelyn (Christopher) Welch, Payton Crabtree, and Baylee K Crabtree; and one great-grandson, Augustus “Gus” Welch. Sharon is also survived but many close relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her older sister, Jean Clark.
Sharon was a 1963 graduate of Oak Hill High School. Sharon spent the majority of her adult life working for Oak Hill Union Local Schools, first in the library and, in later years, in the Treasurer’s office, from which she retired. During her life, Sharon loved to vacation with her family, watching Hallmark movies, cooking meals for her family and anyone else that ever showed up in her kitchen, and spoiling her grandchildren. If you ever met Sharon, you know how truly blessed her children and grandchildren were. Sharon and her late husband, Doug, were members of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, where they attended for years.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022, with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
