Virginia Martin

Virginia A. Martin, age 92, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at her home. She was born August 19, 1929, in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Edward T. Davis and Julia A. Fox Davis. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and homemaker whose most important role throughout her life was taking care of her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed collecting dolls, sewing, baking, wood crafting and working crossword puzzles. Virginia was a member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church in Wellston.

She is survived by her children: Sandy Balzer of Jackson, Richard Martin, Jr. (Carolina) of Lewis Center, Ed Martin (Terri) of Wellston, Bryan Martin (Bonnie) of Wellston and Deanna Derrow of Wellston; daughter-in-law, Jean Martin of Wellston; siblings: Keith Davis of Wellston, Judy Ross of Wellston and Gary Davis (Connie) of Hamden; along with 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Walter Richard “Dick” Martin in 2020; son, Bob Martin; grandson, Rich Martin III; and brothers: Eugene Davis and Rev. David Coleman Davis.

Funeral services will be Sunday, February 20, at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Sunday.
