Thomas Olen Coyan, age 81, passed away from this life at home on January 18, 2022. He was born on September 11, 1940, in Jackson, Ohio, to parents William R. and Nellie Blanch Hayth Coyan.
Tom is survived by his wife of 56 years and three days, Carole Wilson Coyan; son, Aaron Scott Coyan; daughter-in-law, Alice Fort Coyan; and granddaughter, Colleen E. Coyan of Chillicothe; and grandson, Dakota R. Coyan of Wellston. He is also survived by brothers: Carl A. Coyan of Powell, Ohio, Gary L. Coyan and Michael R. (Julia) Coyan of Jackson. Numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews survive as well. Preceding Tom in death were son, Bryan E. Coyan; daughter, Rachel E. Coyan Tripp; his parents; brothers: William R. (Buddy), Norman L., James E. and Steven L.; sisters: Virginia H. Law, Bernice J. Fisher, Alpharetta McLaughlin, Shirley A. Jones and Saundra F. Coyan.
Tom came from a family of railroad workers and enthusiasts. He worked for the DT&I Grand Truck Canadian National Railroad for 34 years. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with the elderly gentlemen at McDonald’s, visiting family, traveling with Carole and staying at log cabins in Hocking Hills several times a year.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home with Chaplain John Partlow officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the memorial service from 11 a.m. up to the time of the memorial service at 1 p.m. Private graveside services for the family will be held at a later date.

The family would like to express its gratitude to the staff of Heartland Hospice and Home care with special appreciation to Tom’s nurse Fawn and his nurse’s aide Terry for the kindness and love they gave to him and us.
