Alena M. Bishop, age 76, of Wellston, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was born June 30, 1945, in Wellston, Ohio daughter of the late Lawrence Sorrell and Allie Leach Sorrell. Alena was a loving homemaker as well as a former employee of Cabinet Warehouse and Elizabeth’s Flowers. She enjoyed going to Bingo, reading, listening to Elvis Presley sing and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alena was also an avid sports fan who loved cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes.
She is survived by her children: Marc Bishop and Patricia “Trish” Womeldorf; grandchildren: Tom Bishop (Amber Sparks), Seth Brown (Amanda), Kelsey Darnell (Ryan) and Lacy Bishop (Jason White); great-grandchildren: Brantley and Grayson Bishop, Zaydon White, Walker Brown and Reese Darnell; step-grandchildren: Ashtin Hatten (Rusty), Madison Schrader (Nate) and Braydon Womeldorf; step-great-grandchildren: Journeigh and Joveigh Hatten; brother, Sam Leach; along with several nieces, cousins and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Michael L. Bishop in 2007; son-in-law, Johnny Womeldorf; brother, Bill Sorrell (Sue); and sister-in-law, Sandy Leach.
Calling hours will be Saturday, December 4, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Sunday, December 5, at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Ervin officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
