Susan M. (Smith) Thompson

Susan M. (Smith) Thompson, 62 of Jackson, formerly of Chillicothe, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 in Westmorland Place Care Center, Chillicothe after an extended illness. She was born on December 21, 1958 in Chillicothe, the daughter of Herman and Kathryn Smith. On November 6, 1999 she married her husband of 21 years, Kenna “Red” Thompson, who survives.

Also surviving is her sister, Gloria Evans and brother-in-law Dan Evans, Chillicothe; her nephews, Mike Evans and his finance Susan Rittinger, Chillicothe, and Daniel “Tase” (Lisa) Evans, Peoria, AZ; her niece, Trista Ann Smith, Orlando, FL; her great nephew and great niece, Jeran and Magnolia; her lifetime friends, Jennifer Speakman and Helen Newman and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald, and Martha Smith.

Susan was a successful businessperson with a long career in the restaurant industry, holding numerous management positions. She also loved country music, gospel music, traveling, and her fur babies Betsy, Diamond, Buddy, and Baby. She loved to sing, watch cooking shows, and had a fondness for yellow roses.

Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Viar officiating. Burial will follow in Springbank Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Social distancing and masks are requested. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can made to the family, or to a charity of choice.
