Lewis D. Campbell

Lewis D. Campbell, age 74, of Oak Hill, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at his home in Oak Hill.  He was born on October 22, 1946 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Roy E. and Ernestine C. (Crawford) Campbell.

Lewis is survived by his three sons, John Campbell, of Rochester Hills, MI, Steven Campbell (Gabbie Rowland), of Oak Hill, Austin Campbell, Norfolk, VA; sister, Crystal Forehand, of Disputanta, VA; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Roy and Brenda; and several nieces and nephews.

He went to school in Colonial Heights, Virginia.  After school he joined the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam.  After Vietnam, he worked in construction, automotive, millwright, and retired as a boilermaker.  Cars were always a part of his life.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a small business owner in Oak Hill.  Lewis was instrumental in starting the Oak Hill Amvets post 279 and was also the past vice president.Friends may call Friday, March 12 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill and again Saturday, March 13th from 12 p.m.-2p.m.  Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021 with Pastor Danny Boggs officiating.  Burial will follow in CM Cemetery with military graveside services provided by the United States Navy and the Disabled American Veterans of Jackson.  Per CDC guidelines and governor recommendations, everyone is required to wear a mask and practice proper social distancing.  Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
