Theodore “Ted” Adams

Theodore “Ted” Adams, age 98, of Wellston, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. He was born March 2, 1920 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Hattie Adams.

Ted was a WWII Veteran of the United States Army, and served overseas in Burma and India as an early warning radar specialist. He was a former employee for several years at McNally Pittsburg Manufacturing Co. in Wellston, and then later retired from the Wellston Post Office where he served as their custodian. Ted also enjoyed being a handyman for several residents in the city of Wellston. Having always been extremely active, Ted was proud to be able to walk annually from Wellston to Jackson on his birthday for a number of years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wellston, the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston, and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. Jackson County Chapter #45.

Ted is survived by his wife, Norma Ruth Collins Adams; 3 children, Scott Adams (Paulette Miller) of Wellston; April Owrey (Herb) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Suette C. Adams of Athens; 2 grandchildren and their families, Ryan Owrey (Sarah), their son, Hudson and baby girl expected in August, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Megan Garner and her children, Macie and Maddox of Rural Hall, North Carolina; 4 step-grandchildren and their families, Kelsey Hale and Forrest Hale of Wellston, Courtney Brill and her son, Nick, and Kristyn Brill (Phillip Bapst) and daughter, Mia, and former daughter-in-law, Suzette Miller Adams, all of the Portsmouth area; sister-in-law, Judy Collins of Chillicothe, along with 1 niece and 2 nephews. Besides his mother, Ted was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Adams; and brother-in-law, Jack Lee Collins.

In keeping with Ted’s wishes, his body was cremated. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 7 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Deacon Bart Supino officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Donations in Ted’s memory can be given to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School; 229 South New York Avenue, Wellston, Oho 45692.
