Alene Gould

Alene Gould, age 93, of Wellston, passed away Monday morning, April 2, 2018 at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio. She was born July 18, 1924 in Wellston, Ohio to the late Alfred Landford Bishop and Flossie Grace Kisor Bishop.

Alene, along with her husband, was the former owner of Gould’s Bakery in Wellston. She was a member of, and enjoyed attending, Zion #3 Church in Wellston. In her spare time, Alene enjoyed playing bingo with the Country Girls Club, reading her Bible and Amish novels, and traveling with the Senior Citizens. Alene was happiest when she was surrounded by her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Gary Gould of Xenia and Wanda Cheatwood of Wellston; grandchildren, Tim Gould, Tom Gould and David Gould, all of Xenia, Danny Gould of Florida, Jeffrey Cheatwood of Maryland and Aaron Cheatwood of Arizona; along with 14 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, George Raymond “Bo” Gould in 1978; granddaughter, Ronda Cheatwood Graves; brothers, Tom Bishop, Rick Bishop, John “Red” Bishop and Dick Bishop; and sisters, Norma Hughes and Betty Jarvis.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Landrum and Pastor Chuck Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery.
