Dolores Jean “Da Da” McDonald Poetker

Dolores Jean “Da Da” McDonald Poetker, age 83, of Jackson, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Jackson, Ohio on April 13, 1934 to the late Elmore and Alice Jean (Hess) Williams.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 40 years, Bill McDonald; grandparents, Albert Jacob and Nellie Mae Hess and aunt, Glenora Stevison.

Dolores was a 1952 graduate of Jackson High School. She also graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1976 from the University of Rio Grande. She taught in the Jackson City Schools and retired after 30 years. Dolores was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, 50-year member of the Eastern Star, the SEOEA, JCEA and a past board member of the JCS Federal Credit Union.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Poetker; sons, Tony McDonald, Mike (Mary) McDonald and Pat (Trudi) McDonald; daughters, Teresa Harrison and Kathy (John) LaRoche; stepchildren: Vickie Kille, Mike (Maureen) Poetker, Tim (Will) Poetker, Jane Poetker and Mark (Penny) Poetker; grandchildren: Jon (Scarlett) McDonald, Stephen (Amie) McDonald, Lindsay LaRoche, Patrick Harrison, Jake LaRoche, Rhiahna Harrison, Hannah McDonald, Will LaRoche, and Allee McDonald; step-grandchildren: Donny (Mellesia) Kille, Vicki (Ethan) Pariseau, Casey Poetker, Jeremy Poetker, Jason Poetker and Kristoff Poetker; great-grandchildren, Cohen McGhee, Asher McGhee, Daniel Cherrington and expected great-granddaughter, Harper McDonald; step great-grandchildren: Alexis Pariseau, Sariah Pariseau, Nephi Pariseau and Aiden Kille as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 27 at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Roach, Rev. Janie Karl and Elder Dwayne Plymale officiating. Calling hours will begin at the funeral home from 11 a.m. up until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery with the dedication of the grave by Caleb Orton.
