Barbara Carpenter, age 84, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 18, 2018. She was born Feb. 6, 1934 in Jackson, Ohio to the late James and Laura (Halterman) Browning.
She is survived by seven children: Ruth Ann Dingus of Jackson, Ohio, Joyce (Jerry) Dingus of London, Ohio, Rosetta Evans (Donnie Adams) of Jackson, Ohio, Melody Gail Wright (Steve Fowler) of Jackson, Ohio, Sarah (Dave) Krischak of West Jefferson, Ohio, James “Jimbo” Jr. (Brigitte) Carpenter of Jackson, Ohio, and Amy (Anthony) Elkins of Oak Hill, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Carpenter Sr.; sisters: Ruth Browning, Gladys “Sis” Collins, Birda Timmons, Laura Strong, Margie Shephard, and Juanita Zorb; brothers: Raymond Browning, Carl Avery Browning, Russell “Rut” Browning, Robert “Bob” Browning, Joseph “Joe” Browning, Danny Browning, and Phillip Browning; granddaughter, Amber Wright Landrum; grandson, Jonathan Wright; and great-grandsons, Dalton Landrum and Ronald Wright.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 2 p.m. with Elder Cheryl Browning and Pastor Heather Malott officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin Valley Cemetery.
