JoJean Walke

JoJean Walke, age 76, of Xenia, Ohio, passed away Nov. 9, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born in Ironton, Ohio to the late Lewis C. and Florence I. (Noe) Foster.

JoJean was a 1958 graduate of Oak Hill High School. While in school, she was active in the marching band and dramatics. In 1956, she was on the Queens Court for the Jackson County Apple Festival. After graduation, she attended Columbus Beauty School. She worked in several hair salons in Ohio and other states while traveling with her husband in the U.S. Air Force until his retirement in 1979. She retired from The Hair Place in Beavercreek, Ohio in 2010. Until her illness, she was an active member of the Spring Valley United Methodist Church of Spring Valley, Ohio. She was a very special friend to many people and will be missed by all who knew her.

On Nov. 22, 1958, she married her husband, John D. Walke at the Evangelical United Brethren Church which is now the Faith United Methodist Church of Oak Hill, Ohio.

She is survived by her husband, John D. Walke, of Xenia; son, Eric (Lindsey) Walke of Summerville, South Carolina; daughter, Alana (Mike) Hix of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and son, Kevin Walke of Fayetteville, of North Carolina; grandchildren: John-Eric Walke of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Keely and Austin Warren of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Mitchel Walke of Findlay, Ohio, and Justin Walke of Fayetteville, North Carolina; great-granddaughter, Chadli Walke of Fayetteville, North Carolina; sister, Donna Arthur of Troutman, North Carolina; special niece, Carol Thomas, Jackson, Ohio; friends, Paul and Marsha McCorkle of Oak Hill, Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Walke.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill, 202 Maple Avenue, Oak Hill, Ohio 45656. Funeral services will immediately follow officiated by Pastor Dar Hensley. The family will hold a private burial at Bethel Cemetery in Oak Hill, Ohio.
