Alma E. Lavender

Alma E. Lavender, age 93, of Cincinnati, and a former resident of Wellston, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Glendale Place in Cincinnati. She was born Jan. 16, 1924 in Wellston, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carl S. Davis and Clara Maude Levering Davis.

Alma was a 1941 graduate of Wellston High School. She was a loving wife and mother, as well as being a former employee of Perdue’s Five and Dime in Wellston and a former elementary school secretary for 15 years. Alma attended the Bible Chapel in Delhi Hills. She was a former member of the EUB Church in Wellston where she was very active in the children’s and youth departments.

Alma is survived by her daughters, Clara “Maggie” Conley (Rick) of Cincinnati and Jackie Landis (Kevin) of Cincinnati; daughter-in-law, Joy Lavender of Winona Lake, Indiana; grandchildren, Brint Conley (Michelle), Brittany Conley, Courtney Lavender France (Caleb), Derek Lavender (LeAnne), Kara Landis and Kyle Landis; six great-grandchildren, Brindon, Briceson and Braydon Conley and Tennyson, Huxley and Veya France; sister-in-law, Ruth Davis of Richmond, Va., as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lavender in 1989; son, Jay Lavender; an infant son; granddaughter, Kelli Lavender; brothers, Carl Davis and Dale Davis; and sister-in-law, Fran Davis.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Landis officiating. Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery.
