Wilma Ann Thacker

Wilma Ann Thacker, age 36, of Wellston, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was born Feb. 20, 1981 in Yokosuka, Japan.

Wilma, a proud member of the United States Navy from 2006 through 2014, served her country during the Afghanistan War and the Global War on Terrorism. She served on the DDG72 USS Maham and ACU #4 in Littlecreek, Virginia, and at the Center for Information Dominance in Pensacola, Florida. She held an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Mechanical Engineering from Coast Line University as well as being a CTNP02 Petty Officer 2nd Class with the United States Navy.

Wilma was a loving wife and mother who loved baking, but her main passion in life was simply playing with her boys. She attended the Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Wellston and was a lifetime member of the Vineyard Church in Columbus. Wilma was also a member of the American Legion Post 371 in Wellston.

She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Troy T. “Punch” Thacker II; her two sons, Thomas Grayson Thacker, age 8, and Taryn Nathaniel Thacker, age 5; mother, Sandra Stewart Lindsay of Columbus; sister, Kelly Grace Calvin (Jay) of Gahanna; aunt and uncles, Debbie Stewart, John Stewart and Jeff Stewart, along with several cousins and numerous local and community friends.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Celebration of Life service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Jones officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Hamden Cemetery.
