Nevel C. Blanton, 97, of Jackson, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at the home of her niece, Ruby Jordan, Albany, Ohio.
Born Jan. 16, 1920 in Greenup County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Madge Bays Culwell. Nevel was a member of Danbyton United Baptist Church of Greenup, KY and attended Beaver Valley Baptist Church and Trinity Chapel Church of Christ. During WW II she worked in Washington, DC in the Naval Department. After returning to Jackson she helped her husband manage The Athens Livestock Sales and their farm.
Nevel is survived by 13 nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harrison Blanton in 1998; a son, Gregg in 1989; three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, 5258 Washington Road, Albany, Ohio 45710. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until time of services Thursday. You may sign her register book at www.bigonyjordanfuneralhome.com
