Vaughn M. Baker

Vaughn M. Baker, age 99, of Wellston, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017 at the Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. She was born Nov. 30, 1917 in Wellston, Ohio to the late Thomas Vaughn Stevens and Della Whetstone Stevens.

Vaughn, a 1935 graduate of Wellston High School, was a loving homemaker who was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and a former member of the Wellston Mothers’ Club. In her later years, Vaughn became an accomplished artist, who enjoyed painting and working with the late Max Hendershott.

She is survived by her four sons, Tom Baker (Carol) of Wellston, Terry Baker (Karen) of Lancaster, Ted Baker of Galion and Tim Baker of Hebron; along with 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Vaughn was preceded in death by her husband, Deane Baker in 1976; daughters-in-law, Mary Catherine “Sis” Starr Baker, Julia Triplett Baker and Bonnie Walton Baker; and sisters, Esdale Phillips and Fannie Mullen.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston, where Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Sts.
