Donald E. Rister, age 56, of Portsmouth, Ohio passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. He was born September 8, 1960 in Portsmouth, Ohio, raised by his maternal grandparents, Willard and Hattie Rister.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary (Ankrom) Rister, of Portsmouth; children, Kristina L. Rister, Adam E. Rister; grandchildren, Haley (Austin) Dunlap, Dylan Rister, Mallory Rister, JT Rister, Elizabeth, Macy and Morgan Soard; sisters, Phyllis (Jim) Brighton, Suzie (Rod Steinhauer) DeAutremont, Sandy Latham and Kathy Sommer; brother, Mark DeAutremont. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willard and Hattie Rister and several aunts and uncles.
Don was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked as a boiler technician.
