George E. Nelson

George E. Nelson was called home Jan. 4, 2017 at the Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio after a decade of battling heart and lung problems. He was surrounded by his loving family.

George was born on May 18, 1952 to the late Howard Edward Nelson and the late Martha Nelson Stevens. He was a graduate of Jackson High School. He was employed at Southern Silica, Meade Paper, and most recently at Four Winds Nursing Home.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie; children: Phillip (Amanda) Nelson of Wellston, Jeremy “Drake” Nelson, Tara (Mike) Campbell of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Amber Nelson (Chuck) of Jackson; grandchildren: Brandon, Kiren, Alexander, Colt, Gabriella, Mason and Makayla; and sisters: Gracie (Charlie) Arthur of Columbus, Ohio, Linda Marcum of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Elizabeth Nelson of Findlay, Ohio. A host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond (Bud) Nelson and Bud’s wife, Linda, and a sister, Joby Bowen.
