Mae Lucille Hughes

Mae Lucille Hughes, 94, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at 11:45 a.m. at Court House Manor where she had been residing since Aug. 1, 2014.

Mrs. Hughes was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Jackson, Ohio to Oscar C. and Bessie King Parks. She was a graduate of Jackson High School and moved to this community in 1950. She formerly was a beautician.

Mrs. Hughes was a member of the former First Christian Church where she taught Sunday school and the Crossroads Christian Church of Washington Court House. She was also a member of Royal Chapter #29 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Johnson Hughes on Aug. 5, 2014, and by seven siblings, Raymond, Norman, Melvin, Martha and Mary Parks, Marguerite Bellamy and Eula Lambert.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Hughes of Washington Court House and Marilyn Volz of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters-in-law, Amy Parks and Jean Parks, both of Washington Court House and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

A private funeral will be held at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Todd Maurer, minister at the Crossroads Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
