Elizabeth “Lib” Gilliland

Elizabeth “Lib” Gilliland, age 93, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away August 15, 2016 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 2, 1922 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Homer and Merle Jones.

Lib worked at G.C. Murphy’s for 36 years and Buckeye Mart in Jackson. She married Charles Gilliland November 24, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1983. She is a 1941 graduate of Jackson High School and was a member of Calvary United Methodist. She was admired and loved for her witty personality, and will be missed by so many.

She is survived by her three sons: James (Kay) Gilliland, Monte (Linda) Gilliland, and Steve Gilliland, all of Jackson, Ohio; her daughter, Kay (John) Brown of Ft. Myers, Florida; grandchildren: Tresha (Dale) Lutz of Cincinnati, Ohio, John III (Heidi) Brown of Cleveland, Ohio, Chad (Stacey) Brown of Fremont, Ohio, Patricia (Mark) Rinehart of Frankfort, Ohio, Tina (Brandon) Crosier of Jackson, Ohio, Matt (Amanda) Gilliland, Megan (Brian) Guerrant of Libertyville, Illinois, Kristin (Matt) Patterson of West Chester, Ohio, Shanna (Arrick) Boggs of Oak Hill, Ohio, and Beth (Jimmy) McCarty of Jackson, Ohio; several great-grandchildren; brothers: Roger (Avis) Jones of Columbus, Ohio, Richard (Marguerite) Jones of Columbus, Ohio, and David (Kay) Jones of Columbus, Ohio; and sisters: Shirley Taylor of Jackson, Ohio, Judy (Curt) Wiggins of Jackson, Ohio, and Sue Jones of Jackson, Ohio.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Peg Griffith, Pat Denny, Ann Herb, Jean Gillum, and Louise Crabtree; and daughter-in-law, Denise Gilliland.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
