August Wayne Keels

August Wayne Keels, age 76, of Oak Hill, Ohio, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Mount Carmel East in Columbus. He was born in Gallipolis, Ohio on August 14, 1939 to the late Gordon and Elizabeth (Lommax) Keels.

Wayne was a member of the U.S. Army and served in Korea. Wayne loved staying busy, and this was shown during his time as a Plant Manager for A P Green as well as the time he spent driving through the hills of Southern Ohio for FedEx. Wayne also really enjoyed spending time mowing his grass. More than anything, Wayne loved his family and spending time with them.

He is survived by his daughters: Suzy (Randall) Long, of Gallipolis, Ohio and Missy (Steve) Miller of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren: Stephanie (Christian) Scott, Vanessa (Derek) Wilson, Lexi Long, Eliana, and Braden, and Lucas Miller; great-grandchildren: Jarrell, Linae, and Kierra Scott, and Lamiyah and Travon Wilson, special sister-in-law: Lee Keels of Oak Hill, Ohio; and special friends: Mike and Christi Walter; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

He is also survived by his brother, Dwight and sister-in-law, Donna Keels who were devoted to his care and well being over the past several weeks while in Columbus.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Patricia Ann (Roach) Keels. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Keels, and an infant brother, William Joseph Keels.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Union Baptist Church in Blackfork with Rev. Keith Fulton and Minister Christian Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Union Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, April 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill.
