Charlotte Louise Bates, age 79, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio. She was born February 23, 1937 in Wellston, Ohio and was preceded in death by her parents, Robert J. and Eva Davis O’Connor and Harry E. Bates.
Charlotte was a 1955 graduate of Wellston High School. She was a former employee of E.E. Chambers Co. and Kinsels in Wellston before going to work as a bookkeeper for the State of Ohio. She advanced throughout her long career and retired as a business office manager in 1989. Charlotte’s passion in life was her family, especially her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-niece.
She is survived by brothers, Patrick O’Connor (Gizela) of Roanoke, VA, Mike O’Connor (Karin) of Jackson and Dennis O’Connor (Cathy) of Jackson; and sister, Denise Corbman of Jackson. Charlotte was also a very special aunt to seven nieces and nephews, 24 great-nieces and great-nephews and one great-great-niece.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Jones officiating.
