Alice “Shug” Hagerty

Alice “Shug” Hagerty, age 83, of Radcliff, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 15, 2016, at the Holzer Medical Center ER in Jackson. She was born February 22, 1932 in Jackson County, Ohio to the late John C. Spearry and Lucy E. Argabright Spearry.

Alice was a loving housewife and homemaker who enjoyed her animals, especially the birds and her dogs. She was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Zaleski.

Alice is survived by her husband of 67 years, John L. “Jack” Hagerty; children, Diane Sheaffer (Jim) of Radcliff, Mike Hagerty (Betty) of Radcliff, Debbie Rupert (Jim) of Wilkesville, and Angie Mitchell (Chuck McFadden) of Wilkesville; as well as nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by grandson, Jody Woltz; sister, Geraldine McKenzie; and brothers, Kenneth Spearry and Donald Spearry.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston, where a Rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Father Donald Maroon officiating.
