Walter E. Malone

Walter E. Malone, 82, of Wellston, Ohio, passed away on Monday evening, December 28, 2015, at Ohio Health Med Central in Mansfield, Ohio.
He was born October 30, 1933, at Roads, Ohio, to the late George and Elizabeth Dunfee Malone.

He was an attendant at the Gettles Service Station in Wellston before joining the U.S.Marine Corps infantry where he served following the Korean Conflict and attaining the rank of sergeant. He retired following 32 years as a crane operator for the McNally Pittsburg Manufacturing Company. He was a member of the Wellston Church of the Nazarene and American Legion Post #371 of Wellston. Walter enjoyed his walks every day from his home to downtown Wellston in his spare time.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie, on November 5, 2010; a brother, George Malone; and two sisters, Ruth Dawson, and Sara Kay Nettles who recently passed away on November 3, 2015. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Missy Hulbert Malone of Ontario, Ohio; a grandson and his wife, Charles E. and Whitney Malone of Blacklick, Ohio; a sister, Wanda ( George) Ervin of Delphos, Ohio; close sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Young of Wellston, Charlotte Hubbard of Jackson, and Samuel Wilt of Wellston; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston on Saturday from 5 until 8 P.M. Graveside services will follow on Sunday at 1:00 P.M. at Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston with Pastor Mark Clingan officiating. Military honor services at the grave will be by the combined unit of American Legion Post #371 and DAV Chapter 45.
