Ferrell M. Rood

Pastor Ferrell M. Rood, age 78, of Zaleski, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015, at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born June 13, 1937 in Huntington, W.Va. to the late Perry U. Rood and Lillie A. Shaver Rood.

Ferrell was a 1955 graduate of Wellston High School. He was the Pastor of the Zaleski Free Will Baptist Church for 20 years, as well as being a self-employed contractor. Ferrell was an avid West Virginia Mountaineer fan, who enjoyed reading and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy L. Allman Rood; children, Mark A. Rood, Sr. (Annette) of Pataskala and Sarah L. Rood of McArthur; four grandchildren, Mark A. Rood, Jr. (Teresa) of McArthur, Joshua L. Rood of Pataskala, Tosa A. Broome (Nathan) of Wellston and Eric Evans of Washington Court House; eight great-grandchildren, Morgan, Briston, Bradon, Bridgette, Daitan and Daya Rood, Sarah Cook and Jacob Evans, along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.

Calling hours will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Brother Mark A. Rood, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Zaleski.
