Hatfield Stumbo

Hatfield Stumbo, age 74, of Ray, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital of Columbus, Ohio. He was born May 1, 1941 in Dony, Kentucky to the late Richard and Rhoda (Gayhart) Stumbo.

Hatfield was a former President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, a member of the Moose Lodge of Jackson, a coal miner, and a member of the Operating Engineers since 1970. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and the outdoors. He was a great family man and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Howell) Stumbo of Ray, Ohio; children: Richard (Teresa) Stumbo of Ray, Ohio and Kristy (Curtis) Tordiff of Ray, Ohio; grandchildren: Misty (Mike) Mills, Rusty (Cricket) Stumbo, Brittni (Timmy) Johnson, Brandon Devers, and Ryan Tordiff; great-grandchildren: Phillip, Sierra, Breanna, and Brentney; great-grandchild, Ava Stumbo; siblings: Velma (Dick) Howell, Herl (Linda) Stumbo, and German (Zettie) Stumbo; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Morgan Stumbo; sister, Elma Bartrum; grandson, Noah Johnson; and beloved canine companion, Spot.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillumfuneralhomes.com
