Robert Gene “Bob” Morgan

Robert Gene “Bob” Morgan, 81, formerly of Jackson, Ohio, most recently from Middleburg Heights, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Southwest General Health Center Residential Hospice from a brief illness. He was born January 4, 1934 in Knockemstiff, Ohio and was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Naomi(Long) Morgan and son, Robert Bryan Morgan.

Bob was a 1952 graduate of Jackson High School. He attended Ohio Northern University on a basketball scholarship. From 1954 to 1956 Bob served in an airborne unit in the United States Army and made 27 parachute jumps. He began working at Kaplan Trucking Company in 1964 where he retired in 1994 after 30 years to Sarasota, Florida.

Surviving Bob is his wife of 58 years, Becky (Lego) Morgan; four daughters, Kim (Marl) Murray of California, Beth (Tim) Dobbins of Jackson, Lynn (Terry) Brown of Frankfort, and Lisa (Robert) Mave of Middleburg Heights; two brothers, Mike (Melody) Morgan and Willard “Sonny” (Peggy) Morgan; grandchildren, Chase (Jessica) Layton, J.C. Layton, Morgan Dobbins, Katie Dobbins, Steven (Cathy) Priest, Jarrod (Lindsay) Priest, Shawn Brown, Kymberly Morgan, Brittany Morgan, Evan Morgan, Alexander White, Robert (Ashlee) Calton, Krissy Calton, Kortney Mave and several cousins, nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the funeral service directly after at Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home, 135 Broadway Street, Jackson, Ohio. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery with military services by the Disabled American Veterans, Jackson County Chapter 45.
