Rita Jean Halcomb, age 65, of New Carlisle, Ohio, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at her residence. She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on April 19, 1949. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Holsinger, brother, David Holsinger and sister, Carol Holsinger.
Rita was retired from the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility; was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary; was an avid gardener and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, Wanda Holsinger; children: Tracy Asbury, James Crowder and Nichole Reed; brothers and sisters: Alma Craig, Jackie Warner, Allen Holsinger and Lena Wilt; six grandchildren: Seth Iverson, Kirstyn Maynard, James Crowder Jr., Chase Reed, Bailey Crowder and Drew Crowder; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Charles and Bryson Charles and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Thursday, April 2, from 4 to 8 p.m.
