Marjorie (Beatty) Baehr

Marjorie (Beatty) Baehr died peacefully Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Arlington Court Nursing Home in Columbus, Ohio where she has resided the last few years. She was born July 28, 1916 in Jackson County in Cove, Ohio to the late Ira T. and Alice (Hunter) Beatty. She lived in Jackson much of her life until moving with her husband, Carl and family to Gahanna, Ohio.

Marjorie graduated from Scioto High School as valedictorian of her class, and after graduated from Portsmouth Business College. She was a very hard worker, sharp with numbers, and an excellent typist and bookkeeper, which led her to her long and enjoyable career as secretary/treasurer at Pat Murphy Ford.

Marjorie loved fishing and gardening; she especially enjoyed her first strawberries of the season. She was an excellent cook. She was a caring and giving person who liked helping others by seeing they had groceries and transporting them to appointments. Marjorie always remembered her family and friends with cards and personal notes. She was a member of the Jackson First Baptist Church since February 28, 1965.

Surviving Marjorie are her three daughters, Beverly (Tim) Chalfin of Fort Myers, Florida and Middletown, Ohio, Diane (Steve) Walker of Columbus, Ohio, and Marcia (Terry) McGinnis of Johnstown, Ohio; six grandchildren, Amber and Erin Chalfin of Norcross, Georgia, Jennifer Walker (George O’Neil) of London, Ohio, Destiny (Jon) Lara of North Tustin, California, Derek Walker of Columbus, Ohio, and Seth (Betsy) Gallagher of Galion, Ohio; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Hunsinger; brothers, Don Beatty, Roger Beatty, and Bernard (Beth) Beatty; as well as several generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R. Baehr; sisters, Marcella Stevenson and Arlene Kennedy; and brothers, John Beatty, Ed Beatty, Gene Beatty, Dwight Beatty, and Ron Beatty.

The family would like to extend thanks to her brother, Don and Ohio Health Hospice for the special care and support they provided her.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home, 28 Harding Avenue, Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 4, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Keaton officiating. The family would appreciate any antidotes or stories at the service you would like to share about Marjorie. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
