Deloris Jean Parks

Deloris Jean Parks, age 70, of Jackson, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord after an extended illness on Thursday, December 11, 2014. She was born on October 19, 1944 to the late Orville and Nellie (Rodgers) Parks. She graduated with the Jackson High School Class of 1962. She worked for the G.C. Murphy Company for 24 years; 15 years at Super Dollar; and retired from General Mills after 11 years.

She is survived by her sister (and best friend) Leona (Parks) Wallin; her nephew and niece, Bryan and Kris (Ball) Carter, with whom Deloris resided; sister, Judy Sickles of Jackson; brothers, Fred Parks of Ray, Jack (Darlene) Parks of Ray and Loren (Reba) Parks of Wellston; her beloved dog, “Fergie Jean”; and sisters-in-law, Debbie Parks of Chillicothe and Leona Parks of Jackson. A host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers: Don, Joe, Charlie and Tom; three sisters-in-law: Stella, Margie and Garnet; one brother-in-law, Ira Sickles; three nephews, one niece and one great-great-niece.

Deloris loved crossword puzzles, sitting on the porch with her dog and talking to her special friend Linda.

The family will receive friends at the Mayhew-Brown Funeral Home on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jorge Anido officiating and burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association, 1100 Dennison Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43201.

The family would like to thank the staff of Four Winds Nursing Facility for all the love and care they provided for Deloris and her family.
