Helen A. Stemshorn

Helen A. Stemshorn passed away Monday, December 1, 2014. She was born August 20, 1922 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late John Henry and Dorothy (Brown) Ward. She married Charles Holzer Stemshorn on June 2, 1942; he passed April 25, 2002.

Until her health declined, Helen was very active in Grace United Methodist Church of Jackson; here she taught Sunday school and Bible school, as well as having been a member of The Women of Grace.

She is survived by two children, Sandra (David) Fais of Columbus, Ohio and John Frederick (Melanie) Stemshorn of Greenville, South Carolina; grandchildren, Chad Fais of Columbus, Ohio and Heidi (Jay) Ford of Hillsdale, New Jersey, and Joshua and Cory Stemshorn of Greenville, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Alisandra, Jay Michael, and Anna Ford; sister, Phyllis Garrett of Bellflower, California; sister-in-law, Hazel Ward of Jackson, Ohio.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Carl Norman, and Dwight Ward; sisters, Ruth Ward and Thelma Masters McCoy.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson, Ohio. A service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1 p.m. with Rev. Chuck Eagle officiating. Burial will follow at Horeb Cemetery.
