Shirley Ann Wallar

Shirley Wallar, 75, of Wellston, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the Jenkins Care Community. The daughter of the late Walter and Cleo Long Simmerman, she was born near Jackson on April 15, 1939. Shirley was a homemaker and always enjoyed attending the Calvary United Methodist Church at Jackson.

Shirley is survived by her children, Robert (Veronica) Bethel of California, Tim Bethel of Coalton, Brenda (Patrick) Ayers of McArthur and Cathy (Mark) Skidmore of Wellston; grandchildren, John Barlow, Clayton, Jared, Eddie and Nick Bethel, Shirley Harris and Dylan and Chloe Skidmore; and six great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her good friend, Imogene Etter are also left to mourn.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wallar; her son, George Edward Bethel; her brother, Walter; and sister, Vera Harrel.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, July 5 at 10 a.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church of Jackson. Arrangements for Shirley have been entrusted to the Huntley & Cremeens Funeral Home.
